Incorporating Gable-end windows into a new design, or the refurbishment of an existing property has become increasingly popular, but it brings new challenges in terms of shading options to control light levels, heat control and privacy.
Whilst the design of a gable end window fills a room with natural light and gives stunning floor to ceiling views, the very nature of this demands significant technical expertise when designing, manufacturing and installing beautiful and functional gable end blinds.
Grants Blinds are specialists in shading solutions for gable and awkward shaped windows. Working with owners, designers and architects we develop solutions that don’t compromise the visual appeal and overall design aesthetic of the gable window, but at the same time delivering a shading solution that delivers form and functionality.
Are any windows or doors going to open inwards? With inward opening doors or windows, the blind solutions available are much more limited as to what blinds can be installed. However, Grants have designed and installed solutions for inward opening windows.
With shaped blinds depending on the final solution you choose some blinds will work as bottom-up blinds, and others will work downwards. This will alter the stack position when not required. This will alter where any motorised provision needs to be made.
Grants Blinds are the leading authority on the concealment of all types of blinds using Blindspace concealment boxes. Built-in during the construction phase of your project, our design team can match the Blindspace solution to your designed product and functionality.
Blinds Cassette – can be installed retrospectively, available with certain products such as roller blinds only
Blinds Pelmet – built-in during construction, the size of this will depend on the product/supplier you choose
Blackout 100% – not easily achieved and will require side channels, do these need to be built in during construction?
Dimout – can be achieved using a blackout material and a solution with the least No.of blinds
Privacy – easily achieved using an opaque material but not necessarily light reducing material
Screen – easily achievable with 1% 3% and 5% visibility but do not give not privacy at night time
Do you have the necessary power provision?
Power provisions will vary depending on size and product chosen
Low voltage motor solutions will require transformers, these would be positioned where they can’t be seen
Rechargeable battery solutions are improving all the time but are limited to certain products.
